India and China have agreed on a "disengagement" of troops at dokalam considered to be a disputed border area in the Himalayas. Both countries were locked in standoff for more than two months, according to India's foreign ministry.
New Delhi based Journalist Pranay Upadhaya says both countries have agreed to return to the position before 16th June 2017.
However, University of Melbournes International affairs expert Pradeep Taneja says back channel diplomacy has played a crucial role in cooling the Asian giants.
