Support for multiculturalism remains strong in Australia, but new findings from the Lowy Institute point to a notable shift in public sentiment. With approval for cultural diversity falling from 90 to 73 per cent in a year, and 55 per cent believing immigration levels are too high, anti-racism educator Krushna Devsinh Ravalji explains the economic, political and social forces shaping these changing attitudes and how trust can be rebuilt.
