Only 39 per cent of properties listed for rent are considered affordable, assuming one is spending 25 per cent of your income on housing. CEO of Panache Realty Group, Anil Sethi says that the issue of supply vs demand in the housing industry has made the crisis even worse.

According to the most recent PropTrack Rental Affordability report, households earning the median income of $110,000 annually can only afford to rent 39 per cent of the available properties.
