Relations between China and Australia remain strained over Taiwan

Chinese military drills around Taiwan have been condemned as 'provocative and irresponsible' by the White House. Taipei has suggested that Beijing is rehearsing an all-out offensive. Now Australia is being drawn into the dispute, with Chinese embassy in Canberra lashing out at the federal government for criticising Beijing's use of ballistic missiles near Taiwan.
