Ancient secrets of north India’s ‘Skeleton Lake’ remain hidden

The Roopkund Lake, also known as 'Skeleton Lake', is situated at an altitude of 16,500 feet in the most remote part of the Himalayas and is one of the most unique places in northern India. Hundreds of skeletons can be seen beneath the surface when the ice melts every year.


Skeletal remains found in the lake in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, were first discovered by a British forest ranger in 1942.

The locals have their own beliefs about the remains.

Several studies have been conducted to solve the mystery of Roopkund Lake. But what exactly is the mystery?
