The Federal government has increased the domestic violence support payment for temporary visa holders from $3000 to $5000. However, Dr Manjula O'Connor, a Melbourne-based psychiatrist specialising in working with victims of domestic abuse, believes that there is still much progress to be made for this vulnerable group. She emphasises the need for comprehensive support in areas such as medicare, sustained housing, work rights, and overall security.
