One of the largest diamonds in the world, the Kohinoor, was reportedly mined in Kollur, the former Golconda sultanate of the Kakatiya dynasty. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, many have now been calling for its return to India from Britain. Here is an interview with Melbourne physicist and gemologist Prem Phakey who discusses the Kohinoor's qualities, stories associated with it, its history and the series of owners before British royalty acquired the gem.
