Social media companies could be required to identify anonymous users accused of online vilification under proposed new laws in Victoria. Cybersecurity expert Dr Parnit Anand says the proposed reforms could reshape online accountability by deterring anonymous abuse on social media if implemented effectively. However, he stresses that the proposals require thorough consultation and debate before being enacted into law.
