The Indian Consulate in Melbourne has warned the community about scam calls spoofing its emergency helpline, where fraudsters impersonate Indian authorities and allege legal issues to appear credible. The Consulate stressed it never contacts people via mobile numbers and urged vigilance. The consulate confirmed that over 1,000 complaints have been received, and the matter is being addressed with the Australian authorities.
