A new report from the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) says better matching skilled migrants with jobs could boost the Australian economy by $6 billion annually.
Report co-author and BCEC Director Alan Duncan says by helping migrants who speak other languages other than English to work in their previous jobs or similar field could potentially generate huge benefits towards the Australian economy.
It is because, Professor Duncan says, if we could capitalize on 6.2 migrants according to the ABS 2016 census, who are highly educated, highly skilled and very innovative, there could be huge benefits to the Australian economy.

So this report, says Professor Duncan, is the opposite of the notion that migrants steal Australians' jobs and drive wage growth down, but instead they are creating jobs and drive wage growth up.
