For the first time in two years, Muslims in Australia are able to observe their Eid al-Fitr prayers and celebrations more freely without any restrictions due to COVID-19 pandemic.

For Indonesian Muslims in this country, one of the Eid prayers of 1 Shawwal 1443 H last Monday was held at the Diamond Venues in Sydney which was also attended by the Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana. This prayer was organised by one of the largest Indonesian Muslim organisations in Australia, the Centre for Islamic Da'wah and Education (CIDE) New South Wales.

Consul General Vedi invites the congregation to pray for Muslims around the world who are being afflicted by calamities and trials, read the press release received by SBS Indonesian.

"I urge the worshipers of this Eid al-Fitr prayer to pray that the war and conflict that is currently engulfing the world will soon subside," he said.
The Eid al-Fitr prayer was reportedly attended by around 1,500 Muslims. The prayer preacher, Dr. Khalid Muslih, Postgraduate Director of Darussalam University in Gontor, emphasised that Ramadan is present to Muslims around the world with a distinctive spiritual touch. The uniqueness of this touch gives Muslims a feeling of coolness, especially in the face of uncertain world conditions, both as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and also war and conflict.

It was reported that apart from being held by CIDE, Eid prayers were also organised by a number of other Indonesian Muslim community organisations, such as the Ashabul Kahfi Islamic Centre (AKIC), IQRO Foundation and the Foundation of Islamic Studies and Information (FISI).
