An investigation by SBS News has uncovered widespread concerns about the use of medication in aged care homes across the country.


Researchers and health workers say the problem goes far beyond anti-psychotic drugs for patient sedation and it needs urgent addressing.

The complexity of care needs and a lack of accountability is one of the reasons why the nurses’ union has been pushing so hard for so long for staffing ratios.

Ratios apply for state government run homes in many Australian states - but they don't apply for privately run facilities.
