The new Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Norman Albanese is visiting Indonesia on 5-7 June 2022. It is scheduled that there will be a meeting with President Joko Widodo on 6 June.
Visiting Indonesia in his first days in office is a tradition for elected Australian prime ministers, regardless of party.
Indonesia's position, both geographically and geopolitically, seems to be considered by Australia as an ally. In addition, it must be admitted that Indonesia is one of the big markets for Australian products.
Indonesia also plays an important role in the ASEAN region, so if Australia wants to strengthen its position in the region, Indonesia's support is needed.
