Hundreds of protesters have resisted calls from the government to remain at home, instead they gathered at the Black Lives Matter rally

At the Sydney CBD, the demonstrators demanded justice in the Black Lives Matter demonstration.
More than 1,000 people showed interest in attending the event online, despite warnings from the police that they would sue anyone who attended an illegal public meeting.

In Melbourne, refugee supporters will divide the planned demonstrations into eight small demonstrations that will be held at different locations throughout the city to try to obey the rules of social distance.

The riots that occurred as a result of the protests have prompted Liberal Queensland lawmaker Andrew Lamming to suggest the government suspend Job-Keeper or Job-Seeker payments for those attending the demonstration.
