Australia's spy agency says the biggest threat to the country's security comes from within, with homegrown extremists being radicalized during the pandemic.

At a protest earlier this year in Canberra, protesters were alleged to have set the door to the Old Parliament House on fire.

The police are not the only authorities exercising surveillance. ASIO has also been involved, and warned a dangerous escalation is likely to continue.

ASIO feels the lockdown has affected Australia's security environment, as Australians spend more time online during the height of the pandemic.
