The spread of the highly infectious Delta variant of COVID-19 has led to snap lockdowns and border closures.


The Northern Territory government has put the Greater Darwin region into lockdown, South Australia has closed its borders to several jurisdictions.  In Western Australia, Perth and the Peel district have social restrictions in force for three days as well as  tighter border controls. Meanwhile, Queensland has introduced mandatory mask wearing in certain parts of the state while the Chief Minister of the ACT, has announced that masks will be mandatory in indoor venues and on public transport.
