The federal government says vaccine safety is the priority as it prepares for the mass vaccination program that is scheduled to begin by the end of February. But the news comes as Melbourne remains in lock-down.

The first shipment of Pfizer vaccines doses is due to arrive this week. The shipment will be checked by the Therapeutic Goods Administration before distribution begins around the country.
