The accused of perpetrating child sexual crimes in Indonesia will receive a chemical castration sentence.


President Joko Widodo has signed Government Regulation Number 70 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Implementing Chemical Castration, Installation of Electronic Detection Devices, Rehabilitation, and Announcement of the Identity of Perpetrators of Sexual Violence against Children.

Through this legal basis, defendants of child sexual crimes in Indonesia can receive a chemical castration sentence.

What and how chemical castration itself is, following a conversation with Dr. Ika Puspitasari, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy who is also Chair of the Pharmacy Study Program, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.
