Less than two weeks after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Taipe, which prompted days of threatening military exercises by China, China announced more military drills around Taiwan. This announcement came as Taiwan president met the members of a new U.S. congressional delegation visit on Monday, 15 Aug. Have we poke the hornets’ nest?


Prof Greg Barton, Chair In Global Islamic Politics, Faculty of Arts and Education at Alfred Deakin Institute explains to Sri Dean that while the US Speaker Nancy Pelosi has the rights to make the visit, Prof Barton also questions it’s real purpose. As for China’s strong reaction, it may be intended for the domestic audience too.
