Chinese New Year is celebrated around the world, including in Australia. One such celebration is in Chatswood, within the Willoughby LGA in Sydney's north.
The highlight of the celebrations for the Year of the Fire Horse was conducted over the weekend, with the Twilight Lantern Parade taking place on Saturday 21 February. Starting at 7 pm, the parade featured a lion dance troupe and colourful performances from various community groups in Chatswood.
The Indonesian community was one of the groups participating in the parade, collaborating with other Chinese communities under the banner of The Community of Our Lady of Dolours Chatswood.

How is the Indonesian community's involvement in the parade? One of its coordinators, Anny Widagdo, and one Chatswood resident and a participant of the parade, Molita, described it to SBS Indonesian. The Mayor of Willoughby, Tanya Taylor, and the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Dolours Chatswood, Fr David Ranson, also gave their comments.
