Local councils in Australia push more affordable electric vehicles

More than 100 mayors and local Council members across Australia have signed a statement calling for a total overhaul to the federal government's electric vehicle policy.


A new statement backed by 120 mayors and local Council members across Australia calls on the federal government to improve policy settings to encourage the supply of more affordable electric vehicles.

The statement proposed that the federal government legislate mandatory fuel efficiency standards; and require new vehicles sold in Australia to be zero-emission as soon as possible.
