The International Union for Conservation of Nature says it will take political will to spark a global rescue and save jeopardised species newly added to the global list of endangered list.

The Red List of Threatened Species categorises animals approaching extinction, and it currently includes more than 150,000 species globally.

Craig Hilton-Taylor is the Head of the Red List Unit, and he says around 42,000 of the species on the red list are threatened with extinction very soon.
