In his remarks, City of Sydney's Councillor Robert Kok encouraged residents to embrace the spirit of cultural exchange through "Harmoni Indonesia" — a celebration marking the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence Day — held at Arthur Byrne Reserve on August 22. Indeed, cultural richness was one of the key highlights of the event, which was organised by the Indonesian Government Representative in Sydney.
This spirit of celebrating culture was also echoed by Naira Satyarani, a Year 12 student, who spoke about the importance of staying connected to Indonesian culture while living in Australia.

SBS Indonesian also spoke with Intan Pratiwi, who explained the significance of being part of the Indonesian diaspora abroad and the importance of community in preserving traditions and maintaining social bonds. Meanwhile, Ira Price, a traditional dancer who has lived in Australia for 30 years, highlighted the pride she feels in introducing Indonesian culture to locals. Through dance performances and traditional cuisine, Ira experiences a sense of warmth and family that helps alleviate her longing for her homeland.
