Shortly after Donald Trump was inaugurated as president of the United States, he issued a series of policies. Especially policies related to foreign relations and tariffs, are considered by a number of critics and political observers to be able to cause global instability.
In his explanation to SBS Indonesian, Prof. Edward Buckingham from Monash University, School of Business said that President Trump's policy created uncertainty which would therefore change world geopolitics.
According to Prof. Buckingham, seen from a trade perspective, the US has a large trade surplus with Australia. So regarding the US tariff policy, because Australia's exports are smaller than America's, the impact may not be too great. However, Australia as an ally of America, the emotional impact is more felt.
Likewise, in terms of security, Australia can be said to be quite safe, meaning that even though there is uncertainty, there are almost no threats to Australia.
