While New Year's Eve celebrations around the world are cancelled, pyrotechnicians prepare for Sydney's famous fireworks display. That's despite the rise in daily COVID-19 cases in New South Wales.

A team of 50 people from family business Foti International Fireworks will launch six tonnes of fireworks across two displays at 9pm and midnight.

The company's owner Fortunato Foti says the event marks 25 years since creating the Sydney Harbour show.
