Doctor returns OAM in protest against Margaret Court's Australia Day honour

Criticism of Australia's award selection process has been reignited following the decision to name Margaret Court the Companion of the Order of Australia, despite her outspoken views about homosexuality, same-sex marriage and transgender people.


Dr Clara Tuck Meng Soo, a doctor in Canberra will return her Order of Australia Medal, in protest at the inclusion of former tennis player Margaret Court on this year's Australian Day Awards list.

Veteran journalist Kerry O'Brien will also decline the Australian Day Award.

Mr O'Brien has informed N-I-T-V that he cannot accept the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) which he has received this year.
