With a federal election imminent, the Australian Electoral Commission has launched a campaign to combat mistruths being spread about Australia's electoral process.

The Electoral Commission aims to actively correct misinformation that is spread about the online election process.

One of the powers of the Australian Electoral Commission is to provide information that specifically targets certain groups in society.

Many people from migrant backgrounds will be voting for the first time in the upcoming federal ballot.

The process can be very confusing.

This year's federal election must be held on or before May 21.
