In 1946 Joris Ivens made an inspirational film called Indonesia Calling. It told of collaboration between Indonesians and Australians in the fight for Indonesia’s independence. 2020 is the year of COVID-19. Now, Indonesia, its artists and their communities face a powerful, new challenge. Exhibition #4 Indonesia Calling 2020 at the 16albermarle gallery aims to help them.

Felicia Cindyagatha is the manager and co-curator of Exhibition #4 Indonesia Calling 2020. Konfir Kabo is from Project 11, an organisation that collaborates with the exhibition organisers and artists. They explain how Indonesia Calling 2020 works both as an exhibition, and to build relationships between new audiences, and the artists’ communities.
