Climate change is causing extreme weather systems across the country, with the effects rippling right through the food supply chain.

Australians find themselves paying more for meat, bread, dairy and fruit, and, according to a new report commissioned by Farmers for Climate Action, the reason is climate change.
The report, entitled ''Fork in the Road: The Impacts of Climate Change on our Food Supply', reveals that supply chains are currently developing based on predictable weather patterns.
But with global warming spurring rapid and unpredictable change, the farm-to-table process is experiencing some serious disruptions.
At the policy level, the government should be more proactive in tackling climate change to avoid potential long-term food shortages.
