Nurhadi Sucahyo, the SBS Radio correspondent in Indonesia, talks with Ahmadi a disaster activist with deep local knowledge about the phenomenon of Smong, that is peculiar to the area of Simeulue in the province of Aceh.


What is Smong? Why is this phenomenon believed to have saved many lives during the 2004 earthquake and tsunami in Aceh?  Nurhadi Sucahyo, the SBS Radio correspondent in Indonesia, talks with Ahmadi about the effective application of local wisdom in a disaster prone region.
