Ban Ki-moon, the former United Nations Secretary General believes Australia is not doing enough to cut emissions.

Ban Ki-moon brought the world together for the Paris Climate Agreement.

The former United Nations Secretary General believes Australia is not doing enough to cut emissions.

He says the United States, Japan, the European Union and the United Kingdom are slashing two to three times as much as Australia.

The federal government didn't comment directly on the rebuke, instead referring to previous statements which were said referring to the Kyoto agreement - that other countries promised to reduce emissions and failed, while Australia delivered.

The government does say it's on track to meet and beat Paris targets of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 28 per cent by 2030.
