The pandemic changed many things, the way people work, live, and even dream. For some, it was a confusing and uncertain period. But for a director like Sean, it became a turning point that opened the door to a new world: Padel.

Before the pandemic, Sean was constantly surrounded by cameras, scripts, and packed shooting schedules. The creative industry was his main space for expression. When the pandemic brought almost all production activities to a halt, he was forced to pause. It was during this moment of stillness that reflection emerged about life balance and about a passion that had long been quietly waiting.

Padel was a sport that initially began as a hobby. What started as a simple pastime gradually grew into a desire to build something meaningful something that could make an impact.

Driven by that spirit, Sean decided to open Pro Padel in Jakarta and create Pulse Padel, a ball designed specifically for playing padel. More than just a sports facility, it became a community space a place where people could reconnect, socialize, and rediscover positive energy after a long period of isolation. His decision to become a padel coach followed naturally, as he began sharing his knowledge, guiding beginners, and nurturing a love for the sport.

Interestingly, his background as a director was never truly left behind. His ability to read situations, manage rhythm, and shape narratives carried over onto the court. Each training session felt like directing a process one with growth and progress as its ultimate goal.

This journey is not about leaving a former life behind, but about the courage to adapt and start anew. From behind the scenes to the padel court, from directing scenes to coaching strategy, Sean proves that change is not a failure, but another form of growth.

The pandemic may have closed one door, but for those brave enough to listen to a new calling, another door is always waiting to open.

Coach Sean also emphasized that the key things to focus on when playing padel are to enjoy, relax, and have fun. Stay calm even during intense rallies, and don’t forget to enjoy the game with friends or your partner.

However, many beginners often make simple mistakes. One common mistake is wearing regular running shoes. Padel requires shoes with special grip to ensure lateral movements are more stable and safe. Another mistake is relying too much on power when hitting the ball. “Padel prioritizes technique, timing, and strategy over raw strength,” says Coach Sean.
