Kartini Day is celebrated annually on April 21st. It remains a significant milestone for Indonesian women. For them, Kartini is a champion of equality.

But what about Gen Z, who grew up in the digital age who are heavily reliant on the internet?

Dea Rahma, a master's student in Applied Linguistics and Yulia Mega Puspita, a master's student in Executive Arts, both agree that Kartini's struggle remains relevant to their journey towards equality.

Those University of Melbourne students acknowledge that their opportunities to realize their dreams are better than those of the previous generations. However, they feel that Gen Z's involvement in shaping policies to achieve equality for all Indonesian women still needs to be championed, especially for women living outside of major cities.
