Restaurants and retailers around the world have been hit by a shortage of cooking oil due to Covid and exacerbated by the war in Russia and Ukraine.

Global cooking oil prices have been on the rise since the COVID-19 pandemic began due to poor harvests in South America, virus-related labor shortages and growing demand from the biofuel industry.
Ukraine supplies nearly half of the world's sunflower oil, over 25 percent of Russia, and the war in Ukraine has disrupted shipments and caused cooking oil prices to rise.
It is the latest blow to global food supplies and other rising costs are weighing on households and businesses amid soaring inflation.
With conflicts that have contributed to high food and energy costs, they hit the poor the most.
The war has also disrupted shipments of important grain from Ukraine and Russia and exacerbated the global fertilizer crisis, resulting in more expensive and less food.
