With a large number of charities currently calling for donations over the Christmas season, the national charities regulator is warning of fraudsters taking advantage of people's generosity through bogus charity appeals.
The latest official data shows Australians lost $3.1 billion to fraudsters last year. Hundreds of fake charity scam reports have been reported to Scamwatch.
