For 50,000 years, Australia's First Peoples have traveled long distances using star maps in the night sky. They then have embedded the routes decoded in songs to make them easier to remember.

Many of the routes embedded in these songlines have turned into tracks and highway forming the modern Australian road network.

This audio feature was based on Robert S. Fuller's original article "How Ancient Aboriginal Star Maps Have Shaped Australia's Highway Network" from The Conversation.
