The Indonesian government through its representative in Sydney held an award night for high school graduate students who scored the best in Indonesian language in the 2021 HSC (Higher School Certificate) exam in NSW.
Also attended by representatives from the NSW Department of Education, the event which was held at Wisma Indonesia on Friday 25 February was different from previous years.
In addition to awarding the Lottie Maramis award - which is a collaboration between the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney and the Australia Indonesia Association (AIA) NSW - for the highest score in each category i.e. Indonesian and Literature, Indonesian Beginners, Indonesian Continuers and Indonesian Extension, the event also presented awards for the second to fifth best of each category.
The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana, told SBS Indonesian that the expansion of the scope of this award supports diplomacy efforts targeting young people, who will play an important role in Australia-Indonesia relations in the future.
