History and violence in Indonesia. Should we remember 1965 events?

Recognition of the mass killings and imprisonment that occurred in Indonesia after Sep 30 1965 is still not part of Indonesia’s official history and the state’s memory. But among the people memory is more complex.


Dr Grace Chandra Leksana, is a lecturer in the History Department at Malang State University.  She explains to Sri Dean how memories of the violence continue to live and why Indonesians should understand the dark history of the country.
