Amid COVID-19 pandemic which has seen record number of cases and fatalities across this country, the preparation of this year's Australia Day celebration is in its motion. With COVIDSafe plan being set out by government and adhered to by organisers, Indonesian community is among those hosting the events.
For this year's Australia Day commemoration, the Indonesian Association of NSW Inc. (PI) is trusted by the Australian government - through the National Australia Day Council - to organise the event. PI also collaborates with the Indonesian-Australian Families Association of NSW Incorporated and the Indonesian Youth Movement Australia Inc.
The chairman of the event's committee, Rudolf Wirawan, says that the event is aimed to celebrate unity in diversity among various Australian communities by showcasing traditional arts and cultures from five continents and First Nations communities.
The Australia Day 2022 event with the theme of “Unity in Diversity” will be held on 26 January from 10 am to 2 pm via ZOOM, and will also be broadcast live via YouTube channel.
