Thousands of people filled Melbourne Town Hall to watch renowned Indonesian singer Tulus performing at SoundSekerta 2025. Some audiences had to sacrifice more than others.


Renowned Indonesian musician Tulus performed at Melbourne Town Hall on 1 October as part of the SoundSekerta 2025.

The event, organised by PPIA Monash University, drew nearly 1800 attendees, not only from Melbourne but also from other states such as New South Wales and Queensland.

What made attendees willing to drive seven hours just to watch Tulus? What does this event mean to those living abroad? And how important are concerts like this in bringing the Indonesian community in Australia together?
