Islamophobia report reveals extent of anti-Muslim racism

Concerns over islamophobia and the Muslim travel ban are under to significant factors motivating American Muslim to have their say at this year's election.

According to a report analyzing a number of online and face-to-face incidents Islamophobia has spiked in Australia in the last 3 years and most involve hate speech or discrimination.


The Islamophobia report has been released three years since the Christchurch mosque attacks.

Produced by Charles Sturt University and the Australian Muslim's Advocacy Network, the new report examines the experience of Islamophobia.

Analyzing 247 face-to-face and online incidents found more than half of insults targeted someone's religion.

Statements linking Islam to terrorism totaled 24 percent - an increase from 21 percent before the Christchurch mosque bombings.
