Welfare groups are calling for investment in housing at the state and federal level to address what they call the homelessness crisis.


On any given night, about 122,000 people across the country become homeless.

What does this look like in real terms?

That is, those people are sleeping on friends' couches, they are with their children fleeing family violence sleeping in their cars, or they are in expensive boarding houses, and in many situations, have no shelter at all and are in public spaces.
