The Bureau of Statistics has revealed deaths from respiratory diseases in Australia was the second lowest on record last year.


Heart disease was Australia's leading cause of death in 2021, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Dementia, stroke, lung cancer and chronic lower respiratory diseases made up the top five.

Heart disease accounted for most male deaths, while dementia was the leading cause among females.
