Living with a severe multiple impairments child

As a mother looking after three children is hard enough task. This task multiplies when one of the children suffers from multiple disability.


Kathy Kimpton is an Integration Aid teacher and a contestant of Mrs of Australia 2025 from Victoria. One of her three sons has severe multiple impairments since birth. This is one of the reasons why she participated in Mrs of Australia contest, which required her to come up with a plan of advocacy for children with disability.

To SBS Indonesian she shared her journey in overcoming and coping with difficulties and challenges in bringing up her disabled son. Her hard work was rewarded when she managed to keep her participated in normal schooling until year 12. A struggle she will never forget.

Her son is 21 years old now but her hard work in helping other families with disabled children continues.
