Australia's migration sector has voiced concern as the processing times for Australian citizenship applications have become much longer amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Figures from the Department of the Interior show that 90 percent of applications to become Australian citizens now require a waiting period of 25 months compared to 20 months a year ago.

But the Government said that the processing backlog of around 117 thousand has decreased compared to last year's figures. around 221 thousand.

But it is still a backlog in hundreds of thousands ... which cannot be accepted by the Migration Council of Australia.
