A Choice report has revealed several major retailers in Australia are using facial recognition technology with many people unaware of the practice. Bunnings, K-Mart, and The Good Guys record customer "facial fingerprints," but the practice could face closer scrutiny.


Kmart, The Good Guys and Bunnings are major retailers with many of their buyers in Australia.

Most shoppers don't realize that the big stores use facial recognition technology.

An investigation by CHOICE, the Australian Consumers Association, found that it was possible the stores' policies violated individuals' privacy rights.
