The government has made massive reforms to privacy laws, which they want to legislate by 2024.

Australians now have the right to sue for serious privacy breaches.

The government has approved a series of reforms aimed at improving the privacy of personal information, after two years of extensive review of the Privacy Act.

The key to this reform is to centralise the protection of personal information and recognise the public interest in protecting privacy.

This means privacy regulatory bodies will develop guidelines to abolish or eliminate the identification of personal information, as well as guidance for new technologies and emerging privacy risks.
