Many people suffered significant gambling losses without leaving their homes, even though clubs and casinos were closed during the lockdown of these social restrictions.


The closure of clubs and casinos has triggered calls for governments across Australia to use their closure as an opportunity to overhaul the gambling industry and prevent losses suffered by problem gamblers.

The Victorian government says it has implemented several steps to address the problem, including requiring staff training in places and self-exclusion programs.
