Musicians call for stronger protection of artificial intelligence

Australian musicians are concerned about the impact of artificial technology on their work.


A new report from the Australasian Performing Rights Association calls on the government to intervene and ensure their content is protected.

Australasian Performing Rights Association The Australasian Performing Rights Association [APRA] has released a report showing 82 per cent of its members fear the use of AI in the industry will cost them jobs.

A-P-R-A is composed of more than 4,000 artists, technicians, and other music workers.

The report further said that more than 40 percent of musicians use AI in their work.

However, without a legal framework in place, what is currently a collaborative process could soon turn into an industry dominated by AI.
