NAILA speech competition celebrates Indonesian language and culture in Australia

The Indonesian language speech competition NAILA is said to attract participants with increasingly impressive abilities from year to year. Here's the highlight of this year's event and a sneak peek for the one next year.

Took place at the Australian National University's Hedley Bull Building, the winners of the 2024 National Australia Indonesia Language Awards (NAILA) were announced on 7 December.

Open to students in primary schools, secondary schools, universities, and young professionals, the annual speech competition celebrates those who are learning Indonesian.

Speaking to SBS Indonesian, a NAILA representative said that the participants’ language skills are getting more impressive each year, with the delivery of their speeches becoming more innovative.
